The Glenview Park District is committed to providing quality recreation and making Glenview a great place to live for all residents. As the sport of pickleball grows exponentially, the Glenview Park District completed a feasibility study to determine the extent of the need for pickleball courts in the District and identify suitable sites and features for the potential development of pickleball courts.
The feasibility study assessed several factors to identify and evaluate possible pickleball sites and determine the number and preferred design of pickleball courts including site conditions, adjacent land uses, anticipated use, and national organization recommendations. It also included opportunities for community input online and at scheduled community and Board meetings. This Pickleball Feasibility Study sets new guidelines for court location and development that will meet player needs while respecting our neighbors. |

About Pickleball in Glenview Park District
The Glenview Park District currently provides outdoor pickleball courts at seven park locations. There are six dedicated courts (used only for pickleball) at Flick Park and four dedicated courts at Gallery Park. The Park District also provides dual-lined courts which are striped for both pickleball and tennis. There are two dual-lined courts are located at Indian Ridge Park, two at Catherine W. Crowley Park, two at Flick Park, two at Richardson Park, and three at Rugen Park. The Park District also provides temporary indoor courts in gym spaces during select days and time. In 2019, the Park District initiated a detailed assessment of all Park District owned and operated sports fields and courts. The aim of this assessment was to better understand how different user groups utilize these spaces and identify and plan for future needs. The Field and Court Assessment process included inventories of the existing court and fields conditions, interviews with the affiliate user groups of each field and court type, a survey of pickleball players who use Glenview Park District courts, and recommendations for several sites to be developed to meet field and court needs. Following the Assessment recommendations, the Park District began planning new dedicated pickleball courts at Flick Park in 2022. As the Flick Park Development Plan advanced, Glenview residents expressed their concerns about providing new courts so close to the adjacent residences. As a result of these concerns, the Flick Park Development Plan has been paused. This Pickleball Feasibility Study aims to understand the community’s needs and evaluate the best potential locations for pickleball expansion.
